Fixing Foreclosure the Obama way

The officials of the administration are working hard to find an end to the foreclosure problem which could help the house owners. As far as the latest reports everybody knows that between $50 billion to $100 billion has been set aside to solve the foreclosure crisis by the Obama’s administration. It has been known that the Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has decided to lay out plans for $350 billion which is pending in the financial industry bailout package.

The actual release of unveiling the plan is not yet decided but the administration has agreed to devote numerous resources to assist homeowners than its predecessors. The director of Obama’s National Economic Council Larry Summer gave a sign of relief to various economically stressed responsible homeowners by stating that the bankruptcy laws will be reformed and strengthening existing initiatives like “Hope for Homeowners” which could really prevent the foreclosure problems. The administration tempted the mortgage services and tried to modify loans without committing the government funds which deepened the foreclosure problem and now it’s daunting to fix the problem and to expose a widespread approach is very difficult so the hurdle is faced by the Obama, stated by the experts and Scott Talbott senior vice president for government affairs for the Financial Services Roundtable.

The Obama plan resulted in the loan’s modification that opened several new ways for solving the problem to some extent. The loan modification resulted in the reduced rate of interest, extending the loan terms or deferring principal. This modification paved way for more than 10,000 neglectful loans and gave chances for 20,000 new borrowers. This plan expanded the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. plan which underway of failed lender Indy Mac.

To solve the crisis the administration needs to implement several foreclosure prevention programs and the Obama administration is ready to spend more money behind the modification efforts which may include incentives with the servicers and also backstop if they fail again. The $24.4 billion plan revealed by FDIC chairman Sheila Bair, which came into action in the November has helped nearly 1.5million people to avoid foreclosure. Several loan modification plans has to be developed by the Congressional lawmakers to solve the problem of foreclosure. To make the loan modification plan success which could help to wipe put the foreclosure problem would require the Treasury Department to spend $50 billion in funds from the bank bailout this could help several millions of public to save their land from being losing added by Senator Dodd Chris. But these loan modifications will not completely serve the delinquent homeowners as the problem of unemployment is also at the higher rate. As the people are losing their jobs the problem of foreclosure is increasing tremendously and by adding recovery bill could give jobs to three to four million people added by Shaun Donovan, the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Congressional Democrats are trying to revamp the Hope for Homeowners program and it’s been signed up by few borrowers.
