Mortgage Payments
A mortgage payment is nothing more that you’re repaying a lender for the ability to own a house. A typical mortgage can run several years up to about 30. AS you might imagine, this is not really a winning situation for you from a monetary standpoint. Every month that you make that payment you are paying far more interest than you are principal and over the course of time your typical $150,000 mortgage with none of the tacked on added items like points and such will cost you $323,770 even at 6%. ON the other hand if you look at the cost of rent over that same period of time you will likely pay more and still not have a thing to show for it.
It is for that reason that people opt to purchase and have a mortgage payment as opposed to rent. And for the most part it worked pretty well until the most recent issues that we had with the mortgage crisis.
You typically bought a house, paid your mortgage and when it is finally paid of you have something worth considerably more than you paid for it. In fact often that value was above what you actually paid. It is however going to take a while for that to happen again.
If you are going to be living in a place, whether it is an apartment or a home you are going to be paying someone something for that privilege. The mortgage payment allows you to put a portion of what you are spending back into your pocket in the long run.
The experts agree that the set back we are having in the economy today will reverse and once again get back to where your investment will be an asset and not just a liability.
